Youth Groups

St Swithun's Church supports a range of youth group activities for young people from age 11.

St. Swithun's Youth Choir sings at our 11am Sunday service, and rehearses before and after the service (you'll need to be free from 10.30am-12.45pm).  We sing everything from plainsong to rock gospel, and we're open to anyone aged 11-21 who can sing.  Contact our music director, David, to get more information.

St. Swithun's is the home of Purley Youth Theatre who performed Les Misérables School Edition in summer 2005 and raised over £6000 for a long-term redevelopment project in a tsunami-affected village in Sri Lanka. In July 2006 the PYT performed 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and raised nearly the same amount, this time for an AIDS awareness project in Africa. In 2007 the group performed another hit, 'We Will Rock You'.  over these 3 years, PYT made over £17,000 for worthy causes and had great fun in the process. In summer 2008, there are plans for a Theatre Workshop based on 'Godspell'.

St Swithun's is also a partner in the Purley Youth Project which operates in purpose built premises at Purley United Reformed Church, Brighton Road, Purley. Check out the PYP website for details of its offerings.

If you'd like more information about any of these groups then please get in touch.
